    That's half price.

I'm cooking burgers for some friends tonight...about to pick up a brisket to grind up.  Sadly, no Howard Edward Butt stores around hair.

I drove to the nearest  HEB down here in Brownsville Texas. I was lucky to find a USDA choice in the pile. All the briskets were priced at $1.98 though, limit two. Guess that's still a pretty good price for choice.

I just bought a select at Sam's club to grind into burger for a little get-together tonight.  $2.29/pound.  :(

Possibly a Houston area sale only? I'll go check my local HEB in a day or two.

Sounds like the sale is only in the Houston area. Intel from another forum reports that WalMart will price match if you show them the ad... but they have choice packers!

Gone on-line to HEB.com and you can see the local add by entering your zip code.

  • Funny, I lived in Port Lavaca Texas when I was like 5 or 6. I haven't heard or thought an old Howard Edward Butt in a looong time. Nothing like a cold tub of Bluebell "the best ice cream in the country" from good ol' H-E-B!

I just bought one yesterday for well over $3/pound.  I didn't even think to check whether it was choice or select.  I went out to look at it and there are no markings.  does that mean "select"?  I assume they have a lot of motivation to make sure we know it's choice. :(( :((

select.....or worse. but if you bought it at a grocery store, most likely select. The other stuff goes to your favorite fast food joints
