I've been reading that a lot of new BGEs have been hatched over the last couple weeks. Well, I'm one of them. Got my Large a week ago, built a table this weekend and have been spoiling the family ever since. I've got pizzas nailed including a fantastic BBQ Chicken pizza. Looking for some ideas for Sunday, other than the traditional ham. Any thoughts?

NAKED HAM / SMOKE ONLY Let me start that for the past 6 years i have only cooked Egerts Ham (this is an outstanding ham Egged on the BGE). A short while ago went looking for (did not know this at the time) a naked ham / smoke only. Looking at other ways to do a ham w/o the burbon, maple syrup, brown sugar, NO ANYTHING. Guys this was outstanding ham. It tasted like ham. It was a 7 lb Cooks ham (shank) and NOTHING was put on it (Nothing). Just smoke: both lots of pecan and cherry chunks. Cooked at 300 till 145. I did score the ham deep. Cooked indirect. image<img src="http://cdn.vanillafo

Wow. ... really are a bunch all at once today. Must be something in the water!   Welcome!

Spatchcock chicken is great and have heard it works just as well with turkeys - maybe a spatcher turkey with some appke wood smoke?

@Mickey you have convinced me. Naked smoked ham it is for Easter. +1 on the spatched chicken or turkey if you don't want ham.

The key is NOTHING on it except smoke and score it deep. It taste like ham. Did it for my wife and the last two Fest's I went to. All saying it taste like ham.

How about turkey?  Mad Max Turkey is good and so is spatchcock turkey with your favorite rub.  I know this because Wilma doesn't like ham or it doesn't like her (I'm not sure).  Oh, I amost forgot, Welcome to the club!

How about a couple of butts??  One for Sunday. Heck of a meal, pulled pork over "black beans and rice"!   And one for weekday pulled pork sandwiches?
