Academy!

So I was just in academy and picked up some B&B lump for $10 for a 20# bag. While I was there I was also surprised by there selection of rubs and spices. They had bone suckin rub, plow boys, Rufus Teague. All of these spices at my local bbq purveyor would be like 2-3 bucks more than academy price. Overall pleasantly surprised.

They occasionally have a deal on some grill tools as well, and cast iron.

I get the bone sucking rub. I like it mixed with salt lick rub.
Be careful, man! I've got a beverage here.

I have used B&B almost exclusively since Academy opened about 3 years ago.  It has done very well for me.

Academy is a great store.  You can get grilling stuff, guns and ammo, and most other things a man needs in one place.  If only they sold beer.  haha

I bought some wood chunks at Academy after the Salado Eggfest. Great selection and prices. I am going to try the Citrus wood chunks today with chicken.

They had a great selection of wood chunks. I was super surprised at the size of chunks in the b&b and it lit like a champ. Minimal ash. And at only $10 for a 20 pound bag I am now a convert. Academy has now moved up to my top bbq spot in town.

I bought the Judge, 410/.45 revolver there yesterday.  Cheaper than most gun shops.  They do have a strict "no return" policy on firearms, though.

@rholt: Academy is the best bbq store around me at least. If you buy the bags of B&B right off the pallet on the floor instead of ones that have been shelved, you'll find the biggest chunks since those bags have been handled the least.

I found orange wood chunks there for the first time last week. Have never seen those anywhere else.

Did you guys check the BBQ tongs they had there for $5 or so? Very thick heavy duty SS, better than my Oxo. Bought 3 of them. Bought a lot of the wood chunks too. My daughter thinks its going to be my new fav toy store.

    :))

I definitely will be frequenting it there more myself. So much stuff to occupy my BBQ mind. Anybody see their outdoor gourmet knock off egg? Doesn't seem very heavy duty....

You can thank all paranoid chain emails that install fear in the hearts of gun owners that the gov'mnt is gonna ban ammunition sales.  This caused a surge in ammunition purchasing and supply and demand was knocked out of balance, causing ammo shortages.  Fortunately for me, I keep a healthy stock of ammo for all our calibers and don't buy into chain letters, so I'm not victim of the hoarder mentality that's responsible for the low supply and high prices.

You can thank the Department of Homeland Security for buying 1.6 billion rounds of ammo.
