warranty exchange, dealer take old?

After 6+ weeks my new mini base is in. I asked what they need from me and he mentioned bringing it in and they would chuck it if needed.
I thought it would make a great planter and backup if something tragic happend. I know its technically theirs upon getting a news, I may ask to keep as I seen many said they kept old.

last thing I had under warranty the dealer asked me to bring back the old (platesetter) in this case. I havent gotten round to that yet...

Sounds fair, if they replace it they own it. Many dealers will keep and destroy warranty parts so the damaged goods are not anywhere in public. If they let you keep it, conversation piece it is.

If your getting a new free one, let em have the broke one!

I haven't heard of this tho. Seams like most people just pick up the new piece.

Yeah, if they are replacing I would gladly grab the new and hand them the old.

Take it in for the exchange and then just ask them about it, if they are going to trash it they might give it to you. Perhaps they just need to see it for verification.

Took 6 weeks but she is home now. They didn't ask for the other, guy last night maybe was new.
Its got patent # on the draft door. Time to peel off gasket for Rutland, being new its going to pull right off
Other will make a good planter.
