Fire ring question on large egg

My fire ring has notches on the top and the bottom. Is this the new ring? I read where only the xl has notches on both sides.

Sounds like the new fire ring. Curved notches on bottom, flat notches on top.

Yes. Got mine in February this year. Mine has notches on both sides. A plate setter fits perfectly in the flat notches.

As I'm still relatively new to the BGE culture; is having an old fire ring an issue, or is the new one better in some respect?
