How do you pull your pork?

Got your attention now?? Over the years I've pretty much burned off my fingerprints pulling hot meat - by now I'd make the perfect criminal. Takes me about 20 minutes to pull a 7 pound butt. And chopped just ain't right...it's gotta be pulled. And then I found the Bear Paws...is this worth $16?

I haven't tried the bear paws, but I got some of the heat resistant gloves. Something like these:

I think they are really handy for pullin pork, and also great for getting hot stuff off the grill. I use them to take hot butts (chicken, roast, etc) off the grill.

I've seen the bear paws in action as well and it looks like they work great, but the gloves work just as well and IMO serve more purposes.

I like the Bear Paws. Look around. I think I found mind cheaper than that. And mine are a brown bear color.

Agreed they rock I got mine on sale and use them a bunch. I would still pay $16 for them though.

I use PVC coated gloves, they work great for all hot meat handling and pulling. I have bear claws and I don't think they work well at all, I used them once and haven't used them since. Can't beat 'em for $6.

I got the ones @r270ba has for Christmas, but have not used them yet. Maybe this weekend I'll throw some pork on the egg.

It's not that chopped "just ain't right", it's that it is the perfect form of bbq. Created in the cradle of q'dom - North Carolina. All others are challengers to the throne. ;)

Now that my regional bias is out of the way, I usually pull mine too. I use 2 big forks but bear claws would do the trick faster. I still prefer the forks, because it gives me more time for "tasting".

Buy 'em I have a pair and love them. You can look around I think I paid less than 10 bucks.

I just grab two big forks and go to town on it. Only takes 2 or 3 minutes.

I use something similar to the bear claws, called the meat rack.

I like them better then the claws because of the long handle, gives better leverage and keeps you hands out of the meat.

I've chopped my last two butts. Very happy. But when I pull, I just use my hands and forks. Sometimes forks are awkwards. I don't think I'm coordinated enough for bear claws. I can barely make it trough the day with my own claws

I have been using Bear Paws for a couple of years. Used for pulling meat and helpful in picking up large pieces of meat that I want to wrap in foil.

I like the gloves with a knife to cut through the bark when needed. I can pull out the fat at the same time.

I have a pair of wooden bear paws that I got in Alaska (salad servers). That is what I use and they work great!

Black heat resistant PVC gloves. Got mine from a restaurant supply company. Something primitive about pulling the meat apart with your hands!

The claws are good but it still takes time taking out the small/medium fat chunks. I wear gloves too and sometimes the fingers in the gloves are too thick to pick out the fat. I'd like to find some thinner gloves that protect from the heat.

I use tongs to pull off the bark and put it aside. I then use two forks from carving knife sets to pull the meat. I then chop up the bark then mix it back into the meat to try to even out portion of bark... I admit that many portions have to go through quality control while I am doing this and usually end up eating my first two portions that way

I also have something very similar to the bear claws, that my wife bought me at our BGE store. I have only used them for getting large pieces of meat off the Egg, but I am doing a butt today, and I will give them a try them for the pulling,
