Dizzy Pig Steak Help
I usually do the reverse sear bit I was planning to grill them at high temp for five minutes max each side instead.
I was going to use one of my Dizzy Pig rubs but I am worried the rub will still be too raw if I don't cook for a long time and will overpower the meat.
What do you guys suggest?
Try my new plan or go back to the reverse sear?

The rub will be fine on a high-temp sear. I do it all the time. Use Cow Lick!!

I agree. I have used both steak rubs and I never use reverse sear method on steaks, only roasts. CI grid and sear at 500-600 is fine. The thicker the steak the better for me.

There is nothing better on steaks than "raising the steak" rub. Seriously!
And sear either way is just fine with it.

Only way it would overwhelm the meat is if you used way to much. Have a great cook!I raise my kids, cook and golf. When work gets in the way I'm pissed, I'm pissed off 48 weeks a year.Inbetween Iowa and Colorado, not close to anything remotely entertaining outside of football season.

You can't go wrong with either Cow Lick or Raising The Steaks. I love BOTH!Large BGE

I like the reverse sear with DP Cow Lick or Cosmic Cow. Usually rub with a little evoo first then rub. I have tried both methods and I like the flavor in the reverse sear better. IMHOExtra Large, Large, and Mini. Tucker, GA

They were both amazing.
My sister has been raving since and my daughter has invited her friends around for a feast.
I would probably say Raising the Steaks if pushed though. -
Yes!!!! Good choice.

I just cooked a 3pound loin last night. Seared it on both sides for 2 minutes dropped temp and cooked at 350 for 1 hour until it hit 150 internal. I have tried a couple of different rubs and always go back to the ole faithful. I use extra virgin olive oil, sea salt, ground pepper, onion flake, and light dusting of garlic powder. I am an egg newbie, but it turned out terrific.

I have done the long cook on steaks until now.
But I really loved the result I got the other day from my first direct cook.
I put them on the top of my rig extender at first and then dropped them to the bottom for a quick hit at the end.
All up about 8 minutes and they were amazing.
Keep Egging.
Ain't it fun.
