XL BGE from vent - one side almost an inch higher

Never noticed this when looking at store - got my new XL home and unboxed and the right side of the air intake vent at the bottom of my XL is about 3/4 of an inch higher than the left side. Is this normal?

My XL is the same. At first I thought it was a defect, however thinking about it I figured that the surface of the egg is curved and the stainless is straight. If it were installed straight, there would be space between the stainless and the egg. Not sure if it would on the top or bottom but there would be.
