Well I have my new XL ready for action, first cook will most likely be this weekend.

I have a 3 pound belly cured up in the fridge ready for cold smoking. For the first time I will use one egg to generate smoke hooked to the other "cold smoker" as I have seen done before. Question is...

Who is giving the smoke and who is taking the smoke? New XL or good ol Medium?

I am all ears. B-) What are you using for the ducting. I am going to try plastic dryer vent. I say the medium is to hand out the smoke FWIW

I was planning to use the aluminum ducting such as nola's setup.

I honestly don't think it matters which one is fire which is meat...I build fire in small and bellies go in large.

More grid (cooking) space in the XL, don't need much fire. I'd go M into XL.

Vail is my favorite mountain here....it's been a couple years since I've been up there. We used to get the pass that is good at vail/breck/keystone/a basin, but switched to winter park/copper/steamboat one the last couple seasons mainly for Winter Park for the kids.

Moved fromCO in1981. Ski'd them all at that time. Sister lived in Vail for a while, loved the back and northeast bowls. A-basin was the best value on weekdays. Ski onto the lift, 2bota bag shots, 1/2 doob and go again. Tuckered out at 2 o'clock, only $12 back then! Lived in Boulder.

Is that duct tape around the vent on the medium?? If so, doesn't it cook itself onto the egg.

I smoked for 5 hours and then just yanked the tube it all came off clean. Plus at 250 you can basically put your hand on the dome...its hot but not scorching
