Sale meats, safe, aged?

Kroger has a section of meats that are out of date. Mostly beef that's past the best if bought or froze by date. They are all more than half off. I'm certain they are "safe". Since they are graying around the edges is this aging?

They have packs of 50$ ribeyes for 20$ really wanna try em just curious on some input. My wife says she ain't touching them. More for me!!

The best cuts to buy in my local market are managers specials or out of date. Go for it!

I wouldn't buy them but agree that they probably wouldn't sell them if they were not "safe". As far as aging, although some of the breaking down process has happened to those pieces of meat...true aging is done safety in a vacuum seal.

Safe, yes like many have said they would not sell if not.

Aged, again I would say yes. Not dry aged but kinda wet aged, the enzymes are working either way. Dry aged beef is aged in the open air of aging coolers no wrapping at all, normally wet aging is done in as whole cuts in sealed bags, like the ones you see at Sam's or Costco.

Love the managers specials at qfc. Look at the meat, it will tell you all u need to know. I pick up lots of cab this way. I won't pay $10lb for meat unless there is an occasion.... I'd rather not eat it if that's the case, chicken does me just fine.

BTW our managers special are no where near 50% off, just 20-30%but that's enough for me to bite.

Go for it. If it passes the whiff test (more or less) its probably aching to meet some fire.

Thanks guys. I just bought four pork butts that were managers special. They were like 30% off. These meats were just out of date and more than half off. I'll check em out and try some steaks
