OT: Cigars and keeping them happy

I have to travel quite a bit, and stay in hotels for weeks at a time. I'd like to buy a few cigars from a local shop, but I have no way to store them while traveling. I'm only talking about 10-15(or less) cigars here, so I need something small.

Is it possible to utilize a small Tupperware container and some type of humidification? Maybe a water pillow from a pet shop?

I'm usually a pipe smoker, but I failed to bring my box with travel pipes and tobaccos with me...so some stogies are in order!

I know there a a bunch of cigar aficionados here...so any advice is greatly appreciated.

It'd be easier and more secure for the cigars to buy a travel humidor, they're pretty inexpensive and should keep them properly humidified as well as keep them from tumbling around!

I never even knew such a thing existed....Thanks.

Just picked up a few sticks from a local joint and they gave me a water pillow to use with a ziplock until I find a better solution.

I travel alot and love cigars. Travel humidor is the way to go. One brand is cigar caddy. I have a five but i think they make one that holds 10 plus. Black plastiv highly durable and not real expensive

I was just looking at the cigar caddy online. Will these keep cigars for a few weeks at a time? Or are they more geared to just a few days?

Cigar Caddy is the one, couldn't remember the name. As for how long, should be good for a couple of weeks as they mostly use gel beads that can be replenished. If the humidity starts to drop off, the just refresh and you're good to go!

This is what I have in my home office, it's temperature and humidity controlled. Company out of Texas makes these are they are amazing!

I use the traveldore, twenty count. The little pillows work great. I've put a paper towel soaked in distilled water in a small Ziploc, leave open and then place in a large zip with the cigars. Redneck? Yes...but I'm from TN.

I have a 50 stick case and it works great. The case is from Xikar. Have several cutters and lighters from them as well. Good quality and warranty.

Not sure what I could teach other than these two things.

Always have sticks to go with...

And don't run out. When in doubt; pick up that 2nd bottle. It won't go bad, or to waste.

I have a 5-count and 15-count traveldor, but tupperware is fine, as the seal is tight. I wouldn't fuss over humidification. I keep my cigars (Cuban) at 62-65% humidity and they smoke beautifully, even when I travel. An over humidified cigar is not necessary. Not sure why people insist non-cubans have to be humidified at 70-72%.

If you are bringing about 10 cigars, they will humidify each other in the traveldor, no need to add moisture. Buy some 65% beads if you want to keep moisture.

I've gone 10 days without humidification, and cigars are fine. If you are traveling longer, I would by some humidity beads as they are re-useable.

Thanks for the tips guys. I think I have a tube of heartfelt beads at home.....will have to bring that back with me on my next trip home. Should do just fine in the lock n lock tupperware style box I found today.

My local cigar shop sells the cigar boxes for two or three bucks a piece. They are made with spanish cedar linings. If you get one that seals fairly well, then throw one of these in there:
