Saw some in Wally today fifteen lb bag for 7 bucks. Was the last bag on the shelf. I may go back and pick up one if they still have more. Never thought of using briquettes but as long as its lump it should be safe right??

Thanks, I think I'll give it a shot. Have you used it before?

Great. I come on here looking for the experts' opinions and find out no one knows more than I do. I picked up a bag this week and am planning on using it on a pizza burn tonight. Will report back. If it's pretty good, I'll load up as I see it. (wife will kill me though, because I'm already sitting on nearly 300#'s of Wicked Good!)
And, doing some reading across the net, it looks like the briquettes are made and distributed by Cowboy and they just license the name. Someone actually contacted Cowboy and they emailed that info back. No word on whether it's the same for the lump, but it would seem like a reasonable conclusion to draw.
So I went to Wally World and picked up a bag. Did pizza tonight so I figure I would give the Stubbs a shot. Lighting wasn't bad but took more time than other lump I have used. Wanted to cook the pizza at 500. Took a long time getting to temp. When it got above 400 there was no controlling it. Flames galore and nothing was calming it down. Shut the vents and got below four hundred but I was doing pizza and wanted high temps....unable to get above 400 without uncontrollable flames. The taste was a very strong smokey flavor. After the cook I just let the egg burn it away. I won't be using this again no matter the price.
