Big Green Egg - EGGhead Forum - The Ultimate Cooking Experience...
We hope everyone enjoyed their Fourth of July weekend and is excited for more warm weather grilling! This week, we’ll be making these two burgers: Stuffed Portobello Mushroom and Caribbean Chicken, and also eating lots of these Ice Cream Sandwiches in honor of National Ice Cream Month! It's time to think about getting out to one of the many #EGGfests around the country - see a list here

Fireworks Show

Firing up the egg to do some pork chops and got a real fireworks display. This is the second cook with this bag of WG and it was worse this time. First time I have had this experience with WG. Quite a display though!

  • WG is known to be excellent but this has been documented on here before. I get that with Ozark oak from time to time as well. Not sure why but it's a fact of life when cooking with lump.

It's a bit of a pain, but you can minimize the sparking by removing any leftover lump (when cold, of course) and putting a layer of it over the fresh lump.

Just picked up two more bags of WGWW... Not scared

Since it's winter I'm not scared either. We have lots of open space behind our back wrought iron fence. If it were summer with all the dry grass I would be a bit frightened though.

I wish I had taken pictures but I got worse than that from Cowboy tonight!! It seemed to hold a lot of heat when burning bout 400 and burping was definitely needed, at one point I had flames shooting thru the DW.

If it gets too bad, drive north a few hours and you can use mine, I never even considered it to be a problem, funny how myopic our (my) view of the world is sometimes
