New BGE Cover

A few weeeks ago for my birthday my large egg received a new winter coat.  My old cover had worn through at the top.  I put on the new cover.  It is longer than the old one, and it is vented.  I am haveing a big problem with moisture.  When I uncover it there is moisture on the dome on the outside and when I opened it there was drops of water on the cast iron grate.  I have it covered when not in use, but it seems like it would be better left uncovered if I am getting this much moisture on and in it.  Any thoughts and/or suggestions concerning this problem?  Thanks.

Still wondering if anyone else is having this moisture problem with the new BGE cover?
  • Trout, no problems w/ my LBGE cover.  I haven’t noticed any moisture, but I do live in Colorado with very little humidity. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

    I have this one:

I have no issues with moisture. It has a Triangular patch with 3 ~3/4 inch rivets on the back for ventilation.
  • Yep, that's the same one I've got.

Mine is embroidered with gold colored stitching. Got it from my Egg dealer last week. We have had lots of rain in Houston area the few days resulting in condensation on everything in my covered patio. The Egg underneath the new cover, however, is dry as a bone.

  • I have the new one - with the gold embroidered logo. I took it off yesterday after being on there for 3-4 days and was surprised to see moisture on the inside. I did have the bottom vent closed - will try leaving it open a little as @gdawgs24 suggested.

    So you're not alone!

I live in middle Georgia where it's very humid.

I have the same cover and the same moisture issue in Cincy, at least some of the time. It turned cold last week which created a situation where the cover froze to the grill and ceramic damper/topper. Had to be careful since the topper came off with the cover. This may be one of the reasons so many here don't mess with a cover.
