Advice for a new Egghead

My wife bought me a LBGE for my birthday. She also bought a nest and mates. I returned the nest and mates and built me a table myself. I am always looking for a reason to build something anyway. Take a look at what I came up with. This is my first egg so I am looking for any advice I can get. I am about as green as you can get. What kind of eggcessories should I be looking at? Any comments on the new setup or advice for a greenhorn would be appreciated. Thanks Roll Tide, go Steelers, Red Sox, and Bravesimageimage

Nice job on the table, fire that bad boy up and get to cooking.
  • Do a search on here for ceramic grill store accessories. I have the adjustable rig combo with pizza stone and it's fantastic! I also recommend a good set of welding gloves for moving hot components around. Great looking set up, by the way.

Try a pizza sooner rather than later, they're awesome. Don't be afraid to jump into some overnight cooks, maybe start with a bone in pork shoulder. There are very good and detailed recipes on this site, and many active and knowledgeable posters.

Have fun, take lots of pics, ask lots of questions, and enjoy. Welcome to the party.

    Cheers -

table looks nice.   I'm confused - are you in Mass, Georgia, Alabama or Pennsylvania?

I am a Bama man. Been here all my life. My brother and I grew up watching the Steelers and when I was a kid collecting baseball cards, Wade Boggs was my favorite player. So, I have been a Red Sox fan pretty much all my life. Seeing how Alabama doesn't have a pro baseball team all I have ever been able to watch is Braves games, so I have been a Braves fan forever too.

Welcome - nice table - get cooking.
Geez - know the feeling, Cubs - great excuse to ditch work and take in an afternoon game at the country's largest day care center before they put in lights, A's cause I liked Billy Martin (Catfish Hunter, Vida Blue), NY Giants watching WWNY Watertown NY - every Giant game as a teenager, KC Chiefs - somebody has to cheer for them.

Understandable. I like mostly local teams (Saints, LSU, Hornets), except I'm also a KY basketball fan.  Story behind everything.  Just wondering if there was some history of diaspora in the mix.

Nice looking table! To keep it nice, I'd suggest you get an air gap under that Egg either by finding the ceramic feet (that used to come with Eggs but stopped about a year ago) or by buying a table nest.

Here's some reading on why you want an air gap: http://www.nakedwhiz.com/eggbase/eggbase.htm

Other than that, I'd say Cazzy provided a bunch of great links to some very nice eggcessories.

Thanks. It is a 10 year solid color stain and water/weatherproofer in one made by Olympic and bought at Lowes. Although I don't expect it to last ten years.
