I built this table for my Dad during the month of August. He bought a new XL Egg and gave me his L Egg, in return I built him a new table. Here is the finished product:
Built out of cedar and treated lumber....topped off with a nice piece of granite.
Interior was framed with treated lumber using stainless steel screws.
Followed up with cedar on the exterior
Stained with Min Wax....2 coats Sealed with Mix Wax.....1 coat for now, I'll do another coat in the spring/summer of 2013
Project would normally take me about 3 days of uninterrupted work....HOWEVER....see below as to what kind of FREE Labor I had helping me.
As always......Dad you're the best, hope you enjoy.
The table looks great!! It looks like the egg sits further back into the table top than most I've seen. Does the extra room in front make it harder to lift the dome?
I'm the lucky recipient of this table. It is wonderful and the work area makes prep work a lot easier. Dry storage right under the BGE is also very handy.
Stripedegg came through BIGTIME!!!!! on the table and he is an up and coming EGGER.
Duganboy - with my kid build me a table.... Nice. Go Kentucky! (I'm a Kentucky basketball fan 'cause my buddy is and LSU basketball ain't that exciting)
@nolaegghead you told me about your buddy bringing you over to the bright side. Bring your buddy to Lexington when LSU plays and I'll get you some tix.
@Duganboy - I figured you'd remember! Cool, I'll have to mention that to him. He told me he got 4 tickets to the Hornets on Friday right behind the press box, then I realized that's the night of our company x-mas party at Pat O'Briens. I'm torn. Leaning toward the game....

@dlk7 the extra room in front does not make it any harder to lift the dome. Pretty good reach getting to the back of the XL to flip a burger!

No....the dome lifts the same way very easily. The surface of the table is 63" x 39".....or 5' x 3' with overhang.

I also have more pics that are a little bigger and better quality.
