Need some fast reassurance!!!

Well crap. Please someone tell me it's gonna work!!! I tried too big a bird in my egg and couldn't get it to close with the plate setter and v-rack. I 86'd the v-rack and its on top of the grid at felt level. Whole bird, injected and going indirect at 300-325. Is this gonna screw up my bird?!?!?

From everything I have seen, that is one of the go to methods for a big bird. I had to put my v-rack in a drip pan which was directly on top of the plate setter yesterday. It was a 17 lb. bird and I have a LBGE. Even with that, I had to raise the temp guage so it wouldn't stick into the bird. 325 for 4 hours and turned out great. I might raise the temp a little next time since the skin didn't crisp up as much as I hoped.

I think the BGE website tell you to do a whole bird in the V rack, sitting in the drip pan directly on the platesetter also, skipping the main grate. As Tulocay mentioned above.

Glad it worked out for ya. Now you gotta give the spatchcocked turkey a try!
