How did you rotate it with the drill? Continuoulsy or every X minutes? Did you use a rubber band to hold down the trigger? I might have to try this one day.
Wow guy. That would be so cool at Salado.
You can mail me anything you don't want to carry.
I would consider driving to Salado to see this. Mickey, you might want to get him set up with more than one egg and let him have a venue that supports 2 lines.

Z Eggineer there is no rotation, the drill was only used to drill out the pie tin. Gyros are normally cooked with a vertical heating element which requires rotation of the spit. The egg eliminates that as the heat is naturally consistent on all sides coming from the bottom up & radiating from the dome down
Very creative...but my question is was that a metal rod? Aren't you afraid of the poisonous chemicals coming from the rod & the bar? The meat is touching the rod directly therefore introducing the meat to harmful, death ray like chemicals...I wish Stike was here to explain why you aren't dead or at the least very sick...maybe the greek yogurt counteracted with the poisonous meat to render it harmless...oh well neat looking cook anyway...stay healthy my friend
Did some research on the threaded rod - it is zinc plated, so it should not be used.
Wow. Thanks Zippy for trying to poison my family. I remember when this was a much friendlier place. When people didn't try to poison other people. I'm outta here.

I wish we had a "he tried to poison my family" flag. If we did, I would use it right now.

The Home Depot web site shows indeed some threaded rod is zinc coated. However, there is also plain steel, and stainless steel rod available. The SS is a bit more costly, but would perhaps the way to go.
