I picked up my egg on Saturday at Eggtoberfest ATL. Had it in the table same night then fired it up to play with the heat settings.
First cook was bacon and eggs! Awesome.
Then a nachos cook off. I did some on the Egg (empty plate on the right) and my wife in the oven. You can see which ones were favorites ! Kids loved these.
Then dinner: Spatchcock chicken, baked potatoes and sweet potatoes, and mini apple pies. Used some of they new Whirlibird and Viva Calente BGE seasonings from Dizzy Pig on the chicken. Chicken was moist and great crispy skin. Cooked direct at 425 grid for an hour. Apples cooked at 350 indirect for an 50 minutes - probably should have been longer or hotter but were good. Everything was a great hit. Can't wait for tonight.

Congrats!!! Sounds like you are having fun. One of our BGE bags from the Eggtoberfest had Viva Calente - was wondering how hot it is and how much you put on your chicken.

You're off to a great start! I would have happily ate at your house. Strong work and welcome to the BGE family.Just a hack that makes some $hitty BBQ....

Thanks...I liked the Whirly Bird better than the Viva Caliente...Did not find either that hot. I think the Whirly Bird had a better flavor due to some of the citrus in it. Birds where overnight in the fridge to dry then I coated with EVOO and dusted them liberally with the rubs. Did not go under the skin...may do this next time.Kind Regards...Papa CPeachtree City, GA2-XLBG's E...Webber 22" kettle, Retired Gas GrillRoll Tide!!!
