I really wanted to show my new ristras.  I get them every year to decorate the front of the house.  The neighbors refer to our house as "the Texas House"

I was cooking Jucy Lucy's and liked the smoke in front of a ristra.

But, to keep this from being off topic, here are the J.L.'s

Nicely done! Looks really tasty. I also love all of colors in the plated picture. Almost looks too good to eat there. Jim

That is so on topic its not even funny.

I'm gonna have to google ristra...but it appears to be a bunch of dried peppers.  Really perty.  Do you eat them or is it decorative (or both)?

Which came first the chicken or the egg?  I egged the chicken and then I ate his leg.

    Thanks, Jim and CC

    SmokeyPitt,
"Ristra" in Spanish means "string".  Ristras are very common in New Mexico, and they are dried chiles.  You can get them edible or decorative.  Since I hang mine outside for a year, I get the decorative, which are sprayed with a protective shiny coat.

I get mine from Hatch Chile Express in Hatch NM.  Click here.

  • what's up with the foil  on the mini nest?

Mickey provided me the foil.  Inside the foil, I have some insulation material.  The metal for the older nests for the mini snugly fit against the mini.  When the mini heated up, it expanded, and the nest was guilty of cracking some minis (I think this is the science.  Mickey ... step in and correct me if I am wrong).  By putting a barrier between the two that would absorb the expansion, the minis were saved from cracking.

I was stationed in Albuquerque for 5 years; your ristra brought a smile to my face!
I also found a replacement source for roasted Hatch green chile this fall, my freezer is full and my tummy is happy!

VI I thought we all agreed that unless pictures were up to passable quality we would not punish our forum brothers with having to view such kibble. [-( Ok, let me walk that statement back somewhat. Those pictures are above kibble quality. Maybe if you worked with the lighting :-\"

    Mickey,
When are you ever going to acknowledge me?  Mom never told me, but I found the records that prove you are my biological father.  I'm not after money ... just your love (and your spare bedroom for me, my wife, and my two dogs).

I'll tell them and keep them all. Those two tramps don't deserve to have anything nice.
Be careful, man! I've got a beverage here.
