torch question

I need a torch to melt cheese. I have a little benzomatic useless thing that quit working. I have one of those fancy dancy butane kitchen torches and the starter gave out. I don't want a self starter that would only break. I don't need it to start lump but I might give that a try if it were capable. It has to work in a downward position. Any suggestions?
Thanks
bob

I work as a hvac service tech, and this is the torch I use for work and I bought a new one for the egg. I only use mapp gas, propane will not burn well through this torch, and it is internally regulated so it will burn in any position. http://www.amazon.com/Bernzomatic-TS4000-Trigger-Start-Torch/dp/B00008ZA09/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1350529269&sr=8-1&keywords=bernzomatic

Yes, get a real torch and not the wimpy butane kitchen torches. Those don't work well for brulee either. They take too long to carmelize the sugar and heat up the custard. Real torch works better. Have not tried torch on cheese though.

They stopped making MAPP gas, unfortunately, about 5 years ago. The "MAP" is not quite as good, but hotter than propane.
That said, if you're just melting cheese you can use a heat gun. You can pick one up at Harbor Freight for around $13 and, while it's not as sexy as a gas flame, it'll get hotter than a creme brulee torch (way more heat) and as a bonus, you can use it to start your lump.
No problems melting cheese. You could use a hair dryer for that (but just a little disturbing).

Right after I get this lighted I am going to melt some cheese (in Texas we do it fast):

Thanks for the heat gun tip. I stripped paint with it for 20 years. It now lives in my Q-box.
Worked swell for the chilli-cheese dogs as a test run. It'll see lots of use.
