torch question

I need a torch to melt cheese.  I have a little benzomatic useless thing that quit working. I have one of those fancy dancy butane kitchen torches and the starter gave out.  I don't want a self starter that would only break.  I don't need it to start lump but I might give that a try if it were capable.  It has to work in a downward position.  Any suggestions?
