After hearing great things about tri tip I stopped in my local butcher shop and asked about them. He had some so I picked up a couple 2- 3/4 lb choice ones. Going to cook one of them for supper.
Tell me how to do it .

Love me some tri tip, probably my favorite cut at the moment. I am going to need to try the searing on the coals next time.
Here is the recipe that I have been using on the last couple and have been really happy with the results.

I've been using the reverse sear method with great results. I enjoy the process of roasting and then the sear, short rest, then to the table.

I seem to get more smoke flavor doing reverse sear if that's what I want, roast at like 250 until 110 rest then sear, if I want a more steak flavor less smoke I run trex caveman cause its just manly I think and my wife loves the show.

Well I seasoned it up Good with oakridge santa María seasoning .
I trexed it with a 20 minute rest between and after.
Very Good for something I've never tried before. -
Looks great! Thanks for using Oakridge BBQ!
