Hello, I've been hanging around here for a few weeks and I've learned quite a bit. I just sold my Bradley Smoker and once I sock a few hundred $ more away a new egg will be on my patio. I'm really excited to get one to try my hand and charcoal smoking. So I thought I would join as I plan to be here more often in the near future. Thanks.

  • Welcome here. What size you going to get? It is a ton of fun to use the BGE. Be prepared to add an inch or two to your waistline.  ;) =P~ The forum is very helpful. Lots of good folks here.

  • Hey smokesniffer, I am leaning towards the large BGE. Hoping to get the plate setter and a nest with the initial purchase. I've been looking at table designs too as I think that will be a project for the winter.
  • Welcome aboard.

Welcome from a fellow north of the 49ther on the "left" coast, Delta BC. Where is home for you?
LBGE is a good choice if you are cooking for more than three, usually just the two of us we have a MBGE. If you plan to build a table, you might want to rethink the need for a nest, unless you need instant portability. I had my MBGE on a pile of patio stones for at least two or three months while its new home was under construction. Rather than a nest, maybe use the budget to get Maverick 732 and a Thermapen - more useful than a nest once the egg is in a table. Of course if money is no concern....
