Comments

I have a Stoker and due to moisture, it needed some maintenance. Rock and the guys took care of my with minimal cost. Great service. The newer units are better protected against moisture. I have total web access from within our outside my home network. Works great. Hope this helps.Joe - I'm a reformed gasser-holic aka 4Runner Columbia, SC Wonderful BGE Resource Site: http://www.nakedwhiz.com/ceramicfaq.htm and http://www.nibblemethis.com/ and http://playingwithfireandsmoke.blogspot.com/2006/02/recipes.html

As far as wind and rain goes, I did a lo-n-slo using a DigiQ through a hurricane. Worked perfectly. Seems impervious to the wind. I had the controller in a zip lock bag.

I have the cyberQ wifi and it works great for me. I put a zip lock bag over it for overnights and haven't had any problems.

I had my Stoker go through hell and back in relation to the weather for the past few years and it works as perfectly as it did new. I have used it at home and all of the competitions I go to. Remember the Stoker is the only one that can control multiple pits at the same time. Plus the built quality is better IMO.
Neither is waterproof, so you have to build something to protect it from the elements. I just use a medium sized clear plastic box and cut a hole in the side for the probes. Get a 12-16 oz plastic cup and cut holes to allow the fan to fit and then your fan is also waterproof.

I have a PartyQ and a CyberQwifi. The cyberq is a great unit and Im only getting into it for all its capabilities. I have cooked two 14 pound briskets, two different weekends and had a great result. I use the software I downloaded from

guru wifi is what i have. This is another one of those things where most have either one or the other. I would go stoker if you have multiple eggs or wish to control more than one cooker at the same time with the same unit.
I choose the guru wife for some of the awesome features. first its never messed up anything. i only use it on 4 hour plus cooks but i can set at night and leave in the morning for work, monitor while at work and it will even cook/hold when the meat is done (ramp feature).butt are always ready at the moment i walk in the door to pull. the probes are sensitive enough to use on baby back ribs as well.
nothing but good things to say about it so far.

oh yeah mine sits under my table in a ziploc tupperwear container, top still closes with the cords and the table keeps the fan dry enough where the table is located. Never any issues. my egg is also 150 ft from my router and between about 6 walls. never had a connection issue
