Raised direct?

What kinds of things work well to raise the grid for raised direct cooking? Based on an earlier post, I tried to hit my husband up for four deep well sockets, no go. Will regular bricks work?

Yes. That is what I am using. Not sure how long they will last. I'm on cook 8-10 with them

I use firebricks from Ace hardware (around $1 each). Gets the job done.

bricks, firebricks, empty soda / beer cans, some bolts, washers, & nuts fashioned together - basically anything that won't melt / burn that also provides enough space for you to cook 1 thing on the lower grate, and another on the upper grate.

On the "regular bricks", make you use a true fired clay brick, not a concrete brick. They can be used upright or flat to give two different heights. They cost like 50 cents apiece at Lowe's. My Ace Hardware had only concrete bricks.
