Stopped reading after seeing this: "There will not be enough water available..."
Ummmm, that's the thing that gets me w/ all these "the sky is falling" folks - over 75% of the world is COVERED in water. Just because the US has strict environmental laws which make desalinating the water incredibly expensive, doesn't mean it can't be done. Countries in the Middle East have desalination plants all over the place.
There's absolutely NO need, in this day & age, to sit around & be subject to the whims of the clouds, waiting, praying for rain. This isn't some ancient Aztec time period, where we have to sacrifice to the gods in order to hopefully get rain for our crops.

Don't get set into one form, adapt it and build your own, and let it grow, be like water. Empty your mind, be formless, shapeless — like water. Now you put water in a cup, it becomes the cup... Now water can flow or it can crash. Be water, my friend. - Bruce Lee
Wow...he said he doesn't expect it to happen. Everyone is so jumpy around here lately.
Easier to attack than use logic. maybe a nurse but missing some reading comprehension. The real question I had was "imagine the cost of beef if drought contines" bc the cost is already risen. I certainly don't believe there will be no massed produce meat to buy. And the article is on Yahoo, not some crazy "sky is falling" website. About as mainstream Internet news source that's avail.
For the record, I wasn't calling "fanoffanboys" a "sky-is-falling" person - I was referring to the researchers & writers of the article.
There's a whole sub-culture of folks who feel that humans are a disease on the earth, and have agendas to try to stop that "disease." Everything from laws limiting how many children you can have, to the size of cars you can drive, to the size of house you can own, etc.
I was more reacting to what I perceived as an agenda-driven article. The groups try to sway public sentiment in order to achieve their agenda. Often times the groups are politically motivated.
I wasn't attacking the OP, I was attacking the article - so my apologies if it came off that way.

Hmmm, seams like there are some jumpy people on here. I was talking about the article not @fanoffanboys. Prolly why I spoke of the article not the price of beef.

There are fresh water shortages all over the planet. Even in the US. The Atlanta area, central Texas around San Antonio and Austin, all over the world. Desalinization for growing crops? You know how expensive that is?!?

Ironically though, the same types of folks also file lawsuits to keep things like the world's largest solar array from being built in the Mojave Desert (http://gigaom.com/cleantech/another-lawsuit-to-protect-critters-from-solar-farms/), or one of the largest desalination plants off the coast of San Diego (http://www.kpbs.org/news/2010/apr/23/another-legal-challenge-over-carlsbad-desalination/) - due to "environmental concerns" over the marine & wildlife.
