honestly, if you're close and can go check it out, i'd jump on it. Seems to have the fan, food and pit probes, power supply, everything. might have to buy an adapter, but that seems about all

You want a 10 CFM fan if you have a large or XL.  A 4 or 5 might work for low n slows up to 300 or if you have a small or med.

Thanks Nola. I've got a lbge. Don't know how interested in it I am just curious. SWMBO is upset with the gun I brought home last week at the moment.

Haha...gotchya.  I'd jump on it if it was local and I didn't already have one...and if it had a fan, because that's an additional $120.

A 5w cfm fan will be just fine for an xl for slow and lows.

Glad to see someone's tried a 5 cfm fan on an XL.  They're a lot cheaper.

I get a 5cmf up to 425 or so without issue in my Large.  It seems like once the egg is up to cruising altitude, it's not as hard to maintain.

Dude emailed me back and is gonna get fan size and info when he gets home. I've done two night time smokes with no trouble. It seams like a lot on here have BBQ guru.

    Any one with stoker input?

That is a steal at that price. 5 cfm fan is the size recommended by Rock's Bar-B-Que (the manufacturer) for a Large. It works fine. The Stoker can control multiple Eggs no problem so you'll be set when you get another Egg or two or three... as long as you have extra fans.

Odd how BBQ Guru recommends at 10 cfm for medium/large/XL and Stoker a 5 cfm until you get to XL which they recommend 10.  Different philosophies I suppose because a cubic foot per minute is a cubic foot per minute.

BBQ Guru is using metric cfm and Stoker is U.S. units.

Perhaps it is because the Guru fan has a damper so you can adjust the output down whereas the Stoker fan does not.

Nearly everyone with a 10cfm chokes the damper down to about 1/3 open to run slow and lows. There is now true need for a 10 cfm. BBQ Guru told me that a 5 cfm would work fine. I've done in the neighborhood of 40+ cooks with mine and it has never had an issue holding temp on my XL.

Ok so dude emailed me back and will ship it and it's the 5 cfm. Trying to just find out some stuff like why he's selling and how old. We will see! Still not dying to get it but don't wanna pass up a bargain

It's tough to tell but the probes look like the older style.  New ones loght up on the plug end.  Shouldn't be a big deal though.  At 125, you can't pass that up.  It might have to be hidden until the the SWMBO forgets about the gun.

I have a Auber with a 5 cfm fan and it works fine. Don't really want to use it for high temp cooks so can't comment on if it can get a large egg to 700 F but those types of cooks aren't left unsupervised for hours at a time. Gerhard

I have the wifi version of the Stoker. I still hard wire mine with an access point next to the Stoker as it just works perfect that way. I would buy it and if you didn't like the non-wifi, you can buy just a Stoker controller only (maybe they will offer an upgrade with trade in). The cost of a fan/ adapter plate and temp probes are worth a fair amount.
