I got a wok last week and wonder if I need a spider or are there alternate ways to get the heat?

Is it flat or round bottom wok? Flat can just sit on the grid and the round usually come with a wok ring that you could use t set the wok in right on the regular rid.

flat, will there be enough heat on the grid?LBGE 4/2012, MBGE 6/2012 & Mini 11/2013Rome, GA

Thanks!!! you helped me before recently. Why do people buy a spider then?LBGE 4/2012, MBGE 6/2012 & Mini 11/2013Rome, GA

I use it for my wok, drop a cast iron grid on it to sear down low, it holds a stone for an indirect piece with the adjustable rig.....very versatile.

You can also use it with the spider legs down, and grid on top for raised direct.

Stir fry with the spider down and fry ckn in the wok with spider up. The spider is on the short list of must haves.Be careful, man! I've got a beverage here.
