Big Green Egg - EGGhead Forum - The Ultimate Cooking Experience...
We hope you all got to celebrate those tasty food holidays last week, we sure enjoyed them! We are even more excited about the beginning of fall, for so many reasons, but mainly for experiencing the cool, crisp air while being outside cooking up the best recipes the season has to offer. We especially love these Beer Pork Tenderloin and Ground Beef Acorn Squash recipes! Fall is upon us, and it's a great time for getting out to one of the many #EGGfests around the country - see a list here

Grilled ice cream

Ok, it didn't turn out exactly as I had hoped, but it tasted a lot better than it looks.  Formed ice cream into balls, and rolled in chopped up almonds that had been roasted on the Egg earlier in the day.  I figured the almonds would act as a layer of insulation for the ice cream.  Placed them on skewers then into the deep freeze for a few hours while the pork shoulder finished.  Cranked up the heat in the Egg and had flaming lava.  Coated the ice cream with marshmallow fluff then onto the Egg.  Started to get some browning of the marshmallow, but was also getting a bit of melting of it and the outside of the ice cream so I pulled them before they were fully toasted.  They had the taste of toasted marshmallow and the crunch of the nuts added another element.
It's not a science, it's an art. And it's flawed.
