<p />Finally a couple minutes to post some pictures of the Eggs meeting DC this past weekend. The above picture is from near our site in the first light of the mornin before the crowds. It was totally surreal camping in the middle of Pennsylvania Avenue among all the wild architecture. We were across the avenue from the Reagan building, and adjacent to Freedom Plaza and tha National Theatre. Here is the Reagan building and a hazy moon.[p]ReaganBuilding.jpg[p]And then our site in the morning.[p]OurSIteAM.jpg[p]AndyKennyTrimRibs.jpg[p]Above is Andrew, of the Sweetgum Hollow team, helping Kenny (Hatch) trim up some spare ribs. I felt silly cooking 14 slabs, but apparently it's what you do when you are at a Memphis in May contest! Here is the ribs on the cookers before I added the last two slabs.[p]EggsRibs.jpg[p]We had the full lineup of eggs.[p]EggLineup.jpg[p]The bands were sometimes overbearingly loud (especially Jimmy's Chicken Shack, but there was a killer Zydeco band playing one night. The famous daves stage was almost right across from us.[p]CrowdBand.jpg[p]We turned in some pork loin along with a tenderloin for our pork entry. Still not seen the scoresheet, and no idea how it did (not in top 6 is all I know!)[p]PorkBox.jpg[p]It was great to have the family stop by to enjoy the heat with us![p]Family.jpg[p]The Redskin Hogettes stopped by to say hi, and, funny, but one of them was one of our onsite judges on Sunday!!![p]Hoggetes.jpg[p]Then there is this classic shot of Mad Max, who gave up Coca Cola for Funnel Cake! LOL.[p]maxFunnelcake.jpg[p]And finally, Hatch and me on the stage!! What an honor that was. This is us snagging our trophy for the chicken.[p]OnStage.jpg[p]All in all a fantastic weekend of egging in our Nation's Capital! Thanks for all the help Andy, Spawn, Max and my lovely wife.[p]Hope yall enjoy the pix!
Happy egging
Chris

    Nature Boy,
AWESOME - JUST AWESOME - Congrats on your great showing - that is a tough crowd!

  • Nature Boy,
dang, busted!!!! . .. and no one will believe that spawn ate half of it, and i shared some bites with you as well. .. .oh well. . .some reputations are hard to shake.. . but at monday morning weigh in, i only gained 1/2 a pound, so i couldn't have been too bad on sunday . ..and i'll bet more of that 1/2 pound weight gain was from eating so many of your great ribs (the one benefit of you not making the finals was being able to chow on some of those four racks you had in reserve for them - those were some unbelievably good ribs you and hatch cooked up, and thats NO joke!!!!) . . .

    djm5x9,
Thank you Darryl. Yeah, it sure was quite an experience. It was worth the 1500 bucks it cost to be there, and if I can get hypnotized so I can forget how hot it was......we might even end up down there next year!! LOL.
Howdy to the Princess and the boys.

    HolySmokes,
Thanks mang. The camera downloading is still not working, but I went out and bought a $15 card reader.....and I really like it. Doesn't scarf down the batteries in the camera either. It really WAS good seeing the family make it out. The twins made it to New Holland for a comp last year, but this is the first my wife has seen. Too bad she had to sweat through her first!

Congratulations on your placings my friend.... y'all are the shiznit![p]John[p]Speaking of Max "let me tell you about my diet" Rosen..... Here's one from a couple of weeks back at Westminster. After judging and eating bbq for several hours, he effortlessly demolishes a deep fried cheese cake.[p][p]

Hey dude. You too can live the dream. Simply forfeit 12-14 hours a day for several years, and plan on five years of borrowing money instead of making it!!! LOL.[p]Thanks man! Gotta say, it has been kinda fun living the challenge. Aint America great?[p]Cheers!

  • WooDoggies,
oh man, busted again!!. .. but honestly, i didn't eat any breakfast, i didn't eat dinner when i got home. . .and i only gained 1/2 pound that weekend too. . .one of the beutiful things of my diet is that i allow myself room for a little fun eating.. .. and the real key discriminator is my blood glucose level the morning after. ...its funny, the thing that seems to really sore my BGL is potatoes. . .more so than 'flour' type products. .. .[p]btw, that fried chees cake was GGGGOOOOOOOODDDDDDD!!!!!!!![p]heeeee
