Grid lifter

I didn't have one. A grid lifter, that is. I was planning to order one eventually, but welding gloves work just fine and I already have those. Today I hit the restaurant supply store for a few things I've been needing / wanting and in the area with the pizza supplies I looked down and saw this little bad boy labeled "deep dish pizza lifter" or some such. It makes a pretty darn good grid lifter and it cost me all of $2.50. I just thought I'd pass it along in case any of you are looking for a grid lifter and you have a good restaurant supply shop nearby.

Looks identical to the one from BGE. That's funny because I knew it looked familiar but forgot where I used it until this post. Lol...thanks for the info.

The two on the left are grid lifters. The most used tool next to the Eggs (IMO). They are made by LawnRanger. Photobucket Pictures, Images and Photos

I have one just like Mickey. I use it every time I use my egg. Mike (lawn ranger) is a great guy and does beautiful work.
Be careful, man! I've got a beverage here.

I found a pizza pan tool similar to the one above for a few bucks too. I don't know how much BGE is selling them for....but they are pretty cheap. They work pretty well too.

I also have a custom one from Lawn Ranger.

I use the deep dish pizza tool also.  The BGE version has a spring to hold it open which is helpful.  I added an o-ring to do the same thing.  I also bent the tip up to make it fit into the grid better.

I read in a different thread that Lawn Ranger wasn't making those anymore?

I use my ash tool. Obviously this only works when there is nothing on the grid.
  • Am I the only one that can't figure out how Lawn Ranger's grid lifters work?

FWIW, I bought the BGE lifter and find it pretty useless. I just use gloves. It has a little rust on it from sitting out in the Portland rain, but if anyone wants it, I can ship to you.

Believe it or not, I was at TJ Maxx the other day and found this on the clearance rack for less than $4 and snatched it up, there was only one. Couldn't be happier although I like the kind that allows you to suspend or hang the grate off the ground.

  • Thanks, Mickey. I guess I thought somehow you lifted the grid with the end of the piece of steel. I see now that those must be used for cleaning the grid.

Correct on the deals on the end. As you can see (and before  :ar! says something) I do not clean a grill till the next time I get it hot to cook and then use the end of the grid lifter to clean it.

  • I just got a tool to pull pizza pans and it works great. $3 at a restaurant supply store. Made in china but what do you expect for $3. Now if I only could devise something to pull my plate setter out.
