Some help please. Bad smell from Costco ribs??

I've got a few slabs of ribs from Costco that have a really bad smell. Do I need to trash them or will they be fine? I'm cooking them a couple days from now so I need to know if I need to replace them. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Were they in a cryo-vac package? If so, it's normal for them to have a funky smell when you first open the package....kinda like a sulfur like smell.
If that's the case, just rinse 'em off and you'll be fine.

If they are in cryovac they are very likely good. As Alebrewer says rinse them but rinse them very thoroughly and rub the meat. Smell them again and if you lose the odour cook them. You can't rinse the smell off spoiled meat.

My grandma used to soak them in light vinegar water for a few hours to get rid of smells, used that a few times recently

Yep. If they still stink after 15-20 min you have a problem. Every time I open a butt I get that stinks and chicken thighs too. I got some from BJs one time that smelled (more than usual) and had a white slimy film over the meat and cryovac. I took em back for a refund.

Costco is great about refunds, take em back. I would not eat smelly meat for anything. I had salmonella back in the early 80s and thought I was literally going to die!

Most cryo has a sulfur smell. The industry is actively trying to solve the problem because most people basically wig out and throw out food given the least reason
If it's a sulfur smell, the meat is not compromised. No need to throw out perfectly good food

i trashed them. they were bad. bummer though as i was too far from costco to return them.
