A couple of day ago I heard a big bang while cooking. I looked all over for cracks and other mayhem, but did not find anything. Today I found it. The plate holding the left spring on the XL had come apart. I found all the hardware, and put it back together. I checked all the bolts on both the XL and the LBGE and found many that would take some tightening.

Only a 5 year warranty on that part. How old is the egg?

7 months. Nothing broke, it just came apart. I found the pieces and put it back together.

Glad it worked out.

From the picture, I thought part of the hinge the spring connected to had sheared off.

Glad you were able to find the parts and reassemble.
A couple weeks ago while I had the tools out to build a patio swing, I gave everything a tightening on mine. I can definitly see putting this into the routine.Bx - > NJ ->TX!!!All to get cheaper brisket! -

Yep - good advice...I found the nuts pretty loose on my Large after a year of use. I check them routinely now.

Good reminder.

Blogging: Never before have so many with so little to say said so much to so few.

My Egg was assembled before delivery and I've found a couple of the bolts loose - almost lost a wheel and the lid ended up wobbly after a few uses. Definitely worthwhile checking everything.

Put my own together and know all the nooks and crannies. I just wanted to get intimate with all that porcelain. LOL

+1Never eat anything passed through a window unless you're a seagull ... BGE Lg.

Don't go too crazy with a monster wrench on those bolts, they don't take well to major torque. I've messed them up on other stuff (not on a BGE). Tight is good, killing them isn't....
