woddoggies lives near this mushroom farm, and he brought me another bag of oyster mushrooms this weekend.... if you haven't ever had them, they may be some of the tastiest shroooms around....brushed with some olive oil and salt and pepper (or dizzy raging river), and grilled direct at around 400 degrees till the tips are crispy, they are just unbelievable... .had them as a side to a nice egged prime rib last night. .. . [p]dang they are some good eating!!! (btw, i have seen them at harris teeter as well, but the ones john brought me were so fresh, they must have been dug up that morning). . . [p]THANKS WOODOGGIES!!!!1

You're welcome max![p]Yeah, they're about as fresh as you can get. They're picked and boxed as soon as you place your order..... and they cook up so meaty, they'll nearly make a vegetarian out of you.[p]John

  • Wino,
no, i do them direct with grid in standard postition on my small, with a well established bed of coals so the heat is even across the grid. ...i find that these oyster shrooms with stand the heat very well... .and i left them on the grid for a good 5 - 8 minutes per side last night. ..its great when they are both crispy around the edges and moist in the centers. . . hope you enjoy. . .[p]woo is the expert, he can tell you how he does them, but i think i do them pretty much the same way as he does. ..

  • Woos' shrooms must have some kind of MAGIC in them? ;-)
  • Colonel Pork Butt,
yes they are magical. ...i was seeing in all kinds of shades of purple last night. ..heeeee .. ..[p]seriously though, you should give em a try. ..harris teeter at harrison street always has them in stock. ..

Hey Mike,[p]Sorry to say... unless you're big buyer, they will not ship.... I've asked several times and the answer is always the same.[p]You could try befriending a local grocer and trading for bbq. heeee?[p]John[p]
