Draft Door Question

I am still working on my BGE repair project and my ordered parts have come in, except the handle. My question is when I rescued the egg there was no draft door but the screws were still there and what appeared to be some sort of rubber that looks like it would run along the edges of the draft door. I have my new draft door to install but it did not come with any type of rubber seal. Is there something that I am missing or is there some type of sealer I should use behind the draft door?

    My draft door just looks like it has silicone caulking along the edge.. I only noticed this because it seemed kinda messy looking

    Thanks. That must be what it is. I will have to put a bead around the door before I install it.

    Make sure it can take the heat.  Install the draft door then silicone the edges.  I would tape it off with painters tape myself to ensure you get a nice clean bead!

    I would check with the mother ship to see what type sealant they use. I don't think silicone would take the heat.

    they use silicone....
    [edit: when replacing it though, some owners use high heat silicone on the BACK of the assembly, so that it is not visible, and it acts as an adhesive, especially if the bolt holes don't line up.  but the factory uses clear silicone, which is surprisingly not high-temp, though it does just fine.  ]

    Got an email back from the mother ship advising me that for best results I should apply high temp silicone to the top and bottom of the door. Thanks everyone for all the help and advice.
