Tried the Cow Lick rub tonight on ribeyes

So with a sad heart (and wallet), I have to say ON STEAKS I don't like the Cow Lick rub nearly as much as my usual Kosher salt/fresh cracked pepper. I am looking forward to trying it on perhaps a lesser cut of meat that needs more flavor, or on a large cut of beef, or even burgers.

My fiance actually mentioned it before me, just that she preferred my usual simple rub as opposed to the Cow Lick. I was already thinking this. My 5 year old was the first to speak up, she is quite the little analyzer, mainly for Thai but also other foods. She is already good at picking out individual spices in foods.

So far, Dizzy Pig is 1 win/2 losses in our house. (Raging river-win, Dizzy dust and Cow Lick- loss) However, I'm pretty sure the Tsunami Spin will even that score to 2/2 just based on tasting a small sample of the rub alone. Please note, this is our particular taste, not a slam on the company, or even saying YOU won't like their rubs, just wanted to report back with a personal experience.

I've used countless steak rubs over the years. Home made, high priced, bought because of a blog, about anything you can think of.

Sea salt and freshly cracked black pepper suits me better than anything else.

Cow lick is great on burgers...steaks, not so much.

I'm a cow lick fan. I use it on steaks and burgers. It is hard to beat fresh cracked pepper and sea salt on a nice filet though. I go back and forth. Tsunami spin is one of my favs on wings. Raging river is good on about everything.

Always good hearing ANY feedback Frank! We've had great success with it on our brisket. You may like it better on that cut. Or try a light sprinkle on some good garden tomatoes, and pop em' in your mouf! Pretty wild.

I still like it on steaks, even after all these years. Tastes best with a nice char.

Hope the other flavors agree more with your palate.

Chris, glad you didn't take the post as anything other than some honest input. I've gotta try it on tomatoes, sounds great and with the peppery taste I also want to try it on eggs, both fried and hard boiled. Eggs are one of my favorite testing grounds for rubs.

Now if you could just give me the recipe for Raging River... lol just kidding

I'll settle for a lifetime supply...
