Loaded up for the Summer - Filling the freezer for the egg!

Went to our local County Fair today to get some meat for the summer. Well, it should last longer than just the summer.
If you haven't tried beef and pork that are grain fed, hand raised and cut by your neighborhood butcher, you should! The kids that raise these animals are amazing. Tougher on some than others when it comes time to say goodbye. When you are looking over the animals prior to auction most kids introduce themselves and hand you a short bio about themselves, the animal and what they plan on doing with the money from proceeds. Neat to see these kids acting a bit grown up.
We get everything trimmed and packed as we like. Incredible meat!
1300lb Angus Reserve Champion and 267lb York!
Our BGE should be happy for a while!

Learned my lesson about stocking the freezer the summer of hurricanes. Nothing like dropping a grand worth of food into the garbage because you haven't had power for two weeks.
I envy your ability to store food and save money this way.
XXL #82 out of the first 100, XLGE X 2, LBGE (gave this one to daughter 1.0) , MBGE (now in the hands of iloveagoodyoke daughter 2.0) and lots of toys -

Wow that sucks. Buy a generator after that? -
Can't wait until its ready for pickup.
New patio coming this Friday! Ready for BBQ this weekend! -
Standby generator is the way to go in Florida. If you want to never have a hurricane, just be prepared! It's like rain. My lawn was getting dry and i figured out the timer for the sprinkler pump was bad. I replaced it, and it has been raining ever since!
