..............or a 7x57 Mauser.
That is completely interesting. I have an 1893 7x57 Spanish Wasp Mauser, which is a hand me down. A nice shooter, but horrible sights. So you are shooting that caliber in a sporting rifle. I have much more respect for it now.Mike

I'm trying to compute the price per pound for those big guys (I'm sure you eat them). $485/lb? I quit saltwater fishing when I figured the cost of my red snapper. :-O__________________________________________Dripping Springs, Texas.Just west of Austintatious

Hey Doc,Here's a bit of trivia for you. The 7x57 is also known as the .275 Rigby. The famous ivory hunter Walter Bell killed over one thousand Elephants with that caliber. That would not be a sport for sissy's!!!Mike
I'm ashamed what I did for a Klondike Bar!!

Funny, My father inlaw keeps touting how much cheaper it is for him to take these trips, and go fishing.

Fishing in the Kayak
I won a kayak fishing tournament in Newport. They have a tournament series called plastic navy. Lots of fun. A buddy from my Cuban cigar days started a kayak fishing business in Baja. His name is Spike. -

Out of San Diego long range fishing. I usually have at least a thousand pounds of fish per trip. Lots of school tuna up to 100lbs and a 200lb mixed in with dorado, wahoo, yellowtail, etc. But hobbies aren't just about the money just about what we like to do. -
Mike... Did any of those wind up on the Egg?
No, but I wish it would have. USDA and CDC do not allow the importation of wild game meat from Russia or Africa. The Eland and Sable (second and third photos) are delicious. All meat was used in camp, distributed to locals or sold in meat markets. No protein is wasted in Africa.

Fishing in the Kayak
I hunt gators from my kayak!
-
That's cool. Swam with em in Florida but never hunted em.
-
I dive the Cooper River for Meg teeth and gators all around but haven't encountered one at depth. Hopefully it stays that way.

I have harvested gators for 22 years but only started using the kayak 5 years ago. It brings a new level of excitement to the activity.

I catch threshers and makos with seals in them, but catching a gator in a kayak sounds like an adrenaline rush. -

Haven't dived in years. My deepest was Zuber Sinkhole, and went to 180 feet. Got nitrogen narcosis; cool. Did 110 feet at Eagle's Nest, and went down the big crack. My brother and I talked in the bath tub, which was 90? feet.I got certified in Northern Florida. When I told my wife I was down 200 ft and 1/2 mile in on a planned deco dive and going through a passage that was about 3 feet in diameter, she started hyperventilating. You can't be claustrophobic in cave diving.
I did Blue Springs, but only down to about 80 feet. Did 80 feed at West Palm, and looked at the nothing on the bottom, but it was really exciting to surface to no support boat. The guy had gone in for cigarettes!
Most dives were at 30 feet in the Keys, and that was wonderful.
I was certified to dive before I could drive legally. Born and raised in Key West.Marietta, East Cobb, GA -

I am a diehard Dawgs fan. Really excited about this season. I'm about 10 minutes from willams-Brice so I see them play every other year in Columbia. Pretty excited that USC game moved to later in the season ha. It sucks living around the gamecock fans.Boom -
