Woo extender question

Just saw that the latest Woo is available, and I'm looking to order. Also considering the Woo extender, but have a question. Has anybody ever used the extender on top of the grate when it is sitting on the fire ring? Thought that would be a good solution for fajitas, meat down at the ring, veg basket raised on the extender. Just wondering if you could easily get tongs in under the extender to turn the meat. Not looking for an AR sales pitch, already have the plate setter, so it's Woo for me!

Thanks.

I don't think getting tongs in would work well.  Removing the extender, flipping the meat, and putting the extender back in would work better.

I just bought an extender and was hoping it would be a little taller. I'll be using it to smoke two briskets at once. The extender will be directly on top of the BGE rack on the plate setter. I have long tongs, and you could get them in there, but you'd have to pull the meat out, turn it over, then put it back on the lower grid.

It appears to only add three or four inches of height.

Wait - I'm rethinking my answer. I don't think it would work at all - I was picturing the lower grid being at the level of the felt (which would work). The lower grid on the fire ring would not.

Ok so it doesn't work. Is there any alternative product that this would work for, or is having two accessible levels going in this manner just something that has to be worked around by moving everything around?

Someone makes a cast iron dual level grid where the upper level can pivot out of the way. That would work. Or, I think I've seen half-grids, where you could only have an upper level on one side of the egg.

Not enough room for 2 briskets or butts on the extender. Not enough height

If you have tha ajustable rig you can get a half rack  with the half round stone from the Ceramic Grill Store  which makes it easy to cook indirect on the back of the egg and still have access to great below.

I use it for about half of my cooks, baked potatoe and vegies indirect and some type of meat direct. Usually on a my cast iron great below the AR.

Hmmm...interesting. It did seem small, but a "brisket" here in Oregon is around 7 pounds. I guess if it's still too short, I can raise with tin foil balls.

When I tired it, the bottom brisket was stuffed in there and the top one touched it. There would have been no smoke or bark on half of each brisket. No good for me.
