I have been an egger for about a year and enjoy cooking on my 2 large eggs 6-7 times a week. I look forward to my daily visits to this forum and get a lot of good information from a lot of fine people. I feel like I know some of you personally and enjoy not only the tips but also the humor.
But there is one person (and only one) that can be so crude, hateful, argumentative and impolite that he can ruin your day with comments that do not belong here. I assume there is a forum master of someone managing the forum. I request that the forum master block that person from the forum. Please tell me if I am out of line. My daily visits to this forum are a delight. His crude, hateful comments cast a black cloud over an otherwise pleasant visit.

Not sure who you are talking about (but I have an idea) and not sure who is in charge of blocking people, but my advice is to let it go. Let is slide off you like a drop of water. Don't take it to seriously and just ignore whatever he/she says. At least that's what I try to do. Most people here are very nice and are here for the exact same reason you are...to gather good information from a lot of fine people. Don't let one rotten apple spoil your visit.

I do hope that the forum master or moderator can take care of the situation, though.

If it is who i think you are talking about, they have been warned by the forum moderater.  Just click oh his name on one of his post and you can see his history.  He has been warned a few times.

also... i have been guilty of this too:  humor (irony) doesn't translate very well here.

i tend to say what i'm thinking, even if it's a joke, and it's true that not everyone always sees it.  doesn't make it their fault, either.

i was called out because i said something to someone and they took offense.  i asked them to read it again, but pretend it had been written by someone else (in particular, someone they 'get along' with).  he admitted he wouldn't have seen it as a slam coming from him.  i meant it as a joke.

yeah, sometimes people are outright PITAs, but at the end of the day, you can't let it affect you.

it's possible for everyone here to feel excluded in some way, if we wanted to feel it.  just ignore someone if they give you a hard time.  but realize too, they might feel (too) familiar with you, and could be just giving you grief.

where i come from, we're a little acidic with our sense of humor. i forget, as fishless has said, how hard it looks to people from other parts of the country.

All of you guys above are class acts.  Acidic humour and disagreements are fun but I recently got fed up with one who is truly classless and rude to newcomers.  I am a free speech guy and love the forum.  Sorry if I should have kept silent.

i actually missed that thread.  flat view ain't all it's cracked up to be.

i see a thread about something i'm not able to help on, and i skip it.  but when it used to be formatted in the old 'classic' way, you could see without opening the post that there was a spat occurring between two people, or among others on a sidebar.

i miss the "obvious fight" visibility afforded by the previous formatting

I think of it as such: Some people don't have a lot of control in their everyday lives.  Be it their boss, their wife, husband, etc, they always have to toe the line with someone.  People in that situation usually find an outlet to exert some power and anger.  I don't think real life bullies and internet bullies are the same people.  Quite the opposite, I think the internet bullies probably get bullied in real life and exact their revenge in a safe setting on the internet.

I try to remember this when I'm on the internet, because it seems to be a huge outlet for such people.  So is road rage.  Studies have found that people who have road rage are generally the types who can't handle confrontation person to person, so with the added safety of a car between them and their adversary they have more courage to act out on their anger.  If someone in the grocery store cuts in line they don't have the nerve to make them get out of line.  If someone cuts them off in their car, they honk, flip the bird, ride their bumper, etc.

So it probably is with internet forums.

burr_baby, you can always contact the moderators about a problem by emailing forumabuse@biggreenegg.com

They have taken care of problems in the past, so it does work.
