Hey Gang!

Anyone use Lazzari on a regular basis?  I read Whiz's review, but I'd like to hear from regular users.  I found a place locally that sells 40# bags for 14-bucks, and you just can't beat that price with a stick.

Thanks!

It isn't bad... It's mesquite though which means log-sized pieces and lots of sparks.

I used to use restaurant supply Lazzari all the time until I found cheap RO, which just tastes better to me.

  • I use it a bunch - at this very moment, actually - and I like it a lot. My wife doesn't care for the flavor, though.

It's smokey, ashy, and takes a while to start. It's sparky too, but to be honest I have yet to find a lump that isn't sparky so I don't hold that against it.

Having said that, I can get it for 12 bucks for a 40 pound bag so I use it ALL the time. :)

I wish I could fing it 12 bucks for a 40 lb bag.
Yesterday I picked up 2 20lb bags of RO for about 12 and change each.

  • Well, after cooking half a dozen times with it, I must say that it's pretty good charcoal.  I don't find it to be too much more ashy than others I've used, and since my whole house loves mesquite, we love the flavor.  And at $14 for 40# I'm calling it a win all the way around.

Speaking of which, I've got a rump that's been sitting in a Texas BBQ rub...time to fire up the Egg for a low & slow!

    Thanks gang!
