Bracket for Fire Bricks

I finally got some fire bricks for raised grate cooking, but was a little nervous about just setting on top of the fire ring, for fear they would tip over and crack my fire box. I used some coat hangers to make some brackets to hold the bricks more securely. Works like a charm...

I have seen most cut them in half to make thinner. But your way sure looks to work.Salado TX & 30A FL: Egg Family: 3 Large and a very well used Mini, added a Mini Max when they came out (I'm good for now). Plus a couple Pit Boss Pellet Smokers.

That is very clever. I went with using two grids, the original and a Webber on top, but I really like your solution.

That is great!!!! That is on my list to do today as I had a brick fall into the firebox once. Outstanding job!

I like it. Good idea. I use the split or half fire brick which are thinner, but I may just make something like this. Keeps from getting two grids dirty.Geaux Tigers!!!

The bricks I use on my xl fall all the time. I've been trying to figure something out.

If you are mechanically inclined and have a welder, this is what I did. This will also keep your grate from sliding around when you are handling food too.

grate mates are the same thing, pretty much. and they allow you to skip the bricks.
