OK, the weather here stinks since Sunday, but I'm cooking these tonight.
I have 2 - 2" thick porterhouses at about 2lbs each! (been doing a dry brine, and onion powder) Making ABTs (my son's will have boars head min-dogs embedded in them ).
My plan is to cook start the ABT's about 45 minutes before dinner time on a raised direct with cast iron down low at about 350. After 15 minutes i'll add the corn, and the steaks. remove whatever is ready, When the steaks get with 10 degrees, take everything off the raised grill, and remove it, open everything wide, and then sear these monsters.
Pics to come.

OK, first problem......
I need more real estate. Doing a juggling act is not fun. While I had it open, lots of air, and flames.Bx - > NJ ->TX!!!All to get cheaper brisket! -
ok, not my finest momentThe corn came out good and sweet, Half the ABTs got scorched when my back was turned.Unfortunately the steaks were a near miss for me. They ended up cooking to complete medium rare raised at 350 dome temp. No searing time. :(Plus due to some other circumstances, everyone came home a late, so I didn't want to throw them on more.pics to come.Lesson learned: Don't do too much at once, also had lots of fun moving stuff from top to bottom, etc..... I think I can talk the wife into an AR.always a sliver lining.Bx - > NJ ->TX!!!All to get cheaper brisket!

OK, corn, and what's left of 1 steak, with a while one next to it.

OK, first problem......
That was a key factor in getting an XL. It like being able to move stuff around and have room to flip.

Don't aim low. Tell her a second egg would solve the problem. Negotiate down to the AR if needed.

Good idea rag top.
I'm in the middle of table planning, now might not be a bad time.Bx - > NJ ->TX!!!All to get cheaper brisket! -
Thanks NI, honestly, it wasn't bad.
Brownie: my 8 year old has a more mature palate than some adults I know. Sushi chefs get a kick out of him.Bx - > NJ ->TX!!!All to get cheaper brisket! -
