Does anybody use cooking twine on pork butts to pull the meat in together?

No but I have bought small butts that were already tied and they cooked fine.Never eat anything passed through a window unless you're a seagull ... BGE Lg.

If you do, you would be creating a larger piece of meat with a longer cook time (less bark\crust\smoke surface). If you keep them separate they will have their own individual cook times (and more of that other good stuff).I've done it for pork tenderloins, but not a butt.Bx - > NJ ->TX!!!All to get cheaper brisket!

I have and it worked great. Makes a tight, compact package and is especially helpful when I take the meat off the grill. In the past I have had butts without twine fall apart as I was trying to remove them from the grill.

Sorry, I misread this. had the tenderloins in my brain where I had to tie them.Need to log off now.Bx - > NJ ->TX!!!All to get cheaper brisket!

Pork butts and twine, forget about it. Just cook it and stop being such a scientist. If good meat, will be like butter.

Only if it's a boneless butt
