Mitt for Handling Cast Iron out of Egg
For the last 6 years I've been using a trusty, almost elbow length, oven mitt when cooking at high temps on the egg.
For easter I was grilling fajitas on a cast iron griddle with the Egg somewhere between 500-600.
I used the mitt to pick up the griddle and actually caught it on fire.
So, anyone have any suggestions on a good glove/mitt for handling pretty high temp iron?
Extra long is a bonus (as always)
lots of things I have seen are rated for 400-450 and that's just not gonna cut it.
Thanks in advance

I use these foundry gloves for handling iron during seasoning and taking out a hot platesetter.
My brother got them for me at SJ Smith Welding Supply.

I have a pair of welders gloves I got from Home Depot for $10. They come up to my forearms. I have grabbed my cast iron grate when it was around 400* with no problem, but I wouldn't really advise holding it for very long. I don't know the temperature rating on the gloves, but as long as you don't plan to hold your hand in the fire for an extended period, I think they work great.

ive used welders gloves. but just got a pair of the bravo bbq gloves off freds music and bbq.com and theyre freaking great. Go all the way up to your elbow, handy when trying to turn things on the grill when youve had it open for longer than you should.

A grill lifter paired with gloves would be a better way to go ....Never eat anything passed through a window unless you're a seagull ... BGE Lg.

The HF welding gloves I got burned me when I picked up a 250F casserole dish. They were worse than normal potholders... Worse than useless.
