As I am getting ready to do my first low and slow cook, I was curious how do you run your probes on the Egg? Do yo run them through the side and take a chance on the wire getting crimped by the lid? Or maybe run them down through the top?

Always run mine through the sides. Never had a issue with cable or gasket. Enjoy....Keep on Smokin!!!

Through the side here as well.Gerhard

Side...no issues.

It won't crimp the wires. I've been sticking the same wires under lids for 9 years and these original probes are still going strong.Packerland, Wisconsin

Same as the others but I try to route through the side so the wires exit where the platesetter comes close to the gasket. This prevents the direct heat from the charcoal from hitting the leads.
