EGGzilla_jr Thank you for posting. I stand corrected assuming a dump of Mediums to balance inventory.

This seems like a satisfactory answer to me. I too was most upset about the tie comment. Glad they straightened that out.

Not all Costcos have them. I was in a Costco near Chattanooga on Sunday and they didn't have any on display.

... and we don't offload inventory - we can barely make enough EGGs to satisfy all our Authorized Dealers as it is! ...
So are you saying there are authorized dealers that are short on inventory because Costco got their eggs?

Perhaps BGE could avoid some of the possible bad PR by calling these Costco Eggs exactly what they are, "gray market".  Most people understand that you don't get a manufacturer's warranty on a gray market Rolex.

Perhaps BGE should put a "product alert" on the front of their web page so that customers who are doing a little research will know ahead of time.  And I would think it might also be a good step to have the warranty registration form online respond with a notice of no warranty if anyone registers a Costco Egg.  Then they can take it back if they don't want to own an Egg that has no warranty. I suppose it depends on how many of these Eggs are out there as to how far you want to go with it.

If I was calling out my little brother, I'd say, "Don't talk about it. Be about it." It's a little shorter than what you said, Whiz.  :-j

If I wanted another egg id buy one of these in a second. At that price the warranty can suck it.
Its really not that great though. I think the mediums would go for a similar price at egg fests. I'd think it would cost you about $599 (w/ Nest and warranty) but I'm sure @Mickey could confirm further.

Yeah, but what % of the folks that seriously consider purchasing one of these at Costco even know what an Eggfest is?

I'd take it too. I paid about $1400 for my large with nest, mates and cover. that's a huge mark up compared to what you guys back east pay.

I pulled the trigger on one of these as a nice supplement to my LBGE cooking space.

My local reseller didn't help me with anything around my LBGE other than to take my money.  I built my own, it's not rocket science, who cares if the display model isn't built properly, they are not building mine.

This was a deal and gives me flexability when I'm doing large amounts of cooking.

I owe a friend an egg, so I checked my local Costco and found 7 MBGEs.  It's a 3 box set, I assume the big one has all the ceramics.  There's a long thin one that I think is the nest legs.  And there's a flat wide one that I assume has the rings.

I figure even if BGE won't honor the warranty, Costco's return policy is such that if anything goes wrong with it, worst case is I get a full refund and have to buy an egg again.

OTOH, I'm of the opinion that BGE should suck it up and stand behind their product.  If Costco's all over the place have these, some distributor must have just ordered many truck loads of MBGEs.  I don't see how BGE can plausibly claim that they didn't know they were destined for a "big box" store.  Who else orders that many at a time?

Claiming they're being sold via an unauthorized channel (in huge quantity) seems to me like more of a cover-up (not wanting to piss off their network of dealers) than anything else.

BTW...that MBGE main box is HEAVY.  I had a hard time getting it up into the back of my SUV.  When we moved the large to my place, we fully disassembled it and loaded it into the car as individual pieces.  I need to open it up tonight and make sure all the pieces are in good shape...as I'm guessing the window of opportunity to get anything replaced by Costco will be short.

Also, the one on display in the store appeared to be assembled not quite right...and the fire box was weird.  Is it normal for the MBGE firebox to have a large slit?  I guess it is:
