  • .05%, probably less.

Somewhere between malemodels and Village Idiot but MUCH CLOSER TO VILLAGE IDIOT...... Most of the people you meet at the EggFests have no ideal of the forums.

I have several friends with Egg's - none of them use the forum.    Mentioned it to them - guess some people don't like forums....   For me - has been fantastic.    I try to post - just to repay some of what I have learned from here - not to try to be an expert.    I feel like this forum got me successful overnight -- with some guidance - has been an easy journey.

The above numbers/guesses are probably about right-sad as the more knowledge you acquire the better you can use your BGE  or anything else.  Too bad that many of the buyers are sold on the image and not the capabilities-buying for the "show" and the luster is what it's all about these days. Likely missing most of the functionality-but that's just my opinion and we all know about those!

I would guess far less then 1%. Unbelievable really. The BGE distributors here in Virginia Beach told me they sell tons of eggs. Didn't see any other VA Beach eggers on the previous post regarding where we lived. Their loss.

Thanks for all the feedback. At Mickey's suggestion we will have a computer with the Egg format showing with the BGE display. Every employee will be showing customers how to navigate the web site and show them the forum. I think this will shorten the learning curve for first time buyers as well as expose them to some of the quailty after market accessories, along with the more popular rubs and sauces. We will be trying to stock some of the after market stuff as well as the popular rubs and sauces. Thanks again to all who answered.

  • I am a newbie. I have had my large since Christmas. Other egg owners that i know are not using the forum. Big mistake on their part. I find it very informative and entertaining.

Show them how to use the search function on the forum.  I am not sure if others have trouble with it, but it seems like we get a lot of the same topics.  I have used the search function and found nearly all the info that I need.  Sorry if I am ruffling feathers, but would just like to see some of the topics stay on the first page longer.

Over in Scotts Valley and Ben Lomond. I've been over to your place a few times and it has been an inspiration. We'll be at your eggfest.

Thanks Smitty, I see most of our business coming from Santa Cruz and south. We'll not be trying to go into your market area. You have a great store, Keep up the good work! Maybe we can work together on the next Blues Hog order, so both of us don't have to order so much.

  • Agreed, very small percentage even know about the forum, or care for that matter. For what it's worth, I hate this forum. It has cost me HUNDREDS of dollars in eggsessories I never would have known about like the adjustable rig from cgs. :) When I tell other non-forum eggers about such eggsessories they are clueless.

You're correct, I was actually telling the sales person I bought the egg from about the AR and he had no clue.

One thing. Prepair the staff for the gasket question/problems with information. They (customers) will see it on the forum/forums and if dealt upfront should be no problem.

Micke , that will be one of the first things we'll mention. I believe if you handle potential problems up front, they never become real problems.

  • Three years ago when I bought my first egg, the dealer gave me the address for the original forum, which I really appreciated. I've made a number of visits to his store since then and mentioned various web sites I thought he would be aware of, cgs, nakedwhiz, etc. He had never heard of any of them. Sounds like he's aware of the forum but doesn't spend much time there.

Stike, if you are ever in Northern Ca. stop by Eggs by the Bay and see Smitty. He's probably the most knowledgable Egg dealer around. We're about 40 miles south of him, so come over and see us too. I have 3 Eggs and cook about 5 nights a week. My wife says I'm a little OCD (maybe more than a little) about the Egg, but she likes what I cook. I try and learn as much as I can about the products we sell, so I can inpart that knowledge to our customers. Been doing business this way for over 43 years. It may be old school, but I wouldn't trade it for any other way.

    ALOHA

POP Marine our local dealer here in Honolulu told me about this forum.  It has been most helpful. Thanks to all of you.

POP Marine cooks on the egg on weekends and supplies his goodies to customers and employee's

He also has a smoker that he built at the shop.  It will handle 5 turkeys or 10 chickens at one time.  Maybe more as it is huge.

Mahalo to all on this forum and Aloha
