Medium BGE - Burn Time
I am considering purchasing the Medium BGE. If I'm smoking
meat at 225 to 250-degrees can someone give me an idea of how long the coals
will burn without adding additional coals? Also I'd really like to smoke all
night long and have the meat ready in the AM. It seems like the BGE is an
awesome cooker/smoker/etc. But I just to be sure the Medium BGE can to the job. So if anyone has stats or experience with
this question I will greatly appreciate your response.

Assuming you put as much in as it will hold, there's about a 1 in 1,000 chance you will need to add more.
2 days ago, I did a big pork picnic in weather below freezing. I ran the Egg at 300+ for about 10 hours. There was enough charcoal left for another 4 hours, and that was not a full load.
Before going over night, be sure you have learned how to make a steady temperature fire. It is usually a good idea, if not using an automated blower, to check after 4 hours.

I've taken my medium over 14 hours on two different occasions with a full load (almost to the top of the ring) at 225-250.

What size BGE did you use for your pork?
A medium. There have been posts where people did pork butts just on a small. The way the Egg controls air flow, and insulates the food makes the lump go a long way.

We've had our medium BGE for a couple of years now. Using Wicked Good I can get 22 hours when cooking a pork butt at 200F.

Totaly agree with PaulT. With wicked good charcoal, you can go 20+ hours. Cooked a butt for 13+ hours at 235. Had plenty of unburned coal left in the firebox. Below are before and after pics of the charcoal. It would surely go over 20 hours.

Thanks all for your responses; I feel much better now. I've grilled for years but only been doing true Smoking for 9mth using the Good-One Rodeo; it's been quite a learning experience and holds the temp very well. So now I'd like to get me a BGE, really looking forward to it. I can't believe how active the BGE forum is, it seems like a really supportive group.
